Dermoscopy
A Dermoscope is a non-invasive diagnostic tool which visualizes the deeper layers of skin and different clinical patterns of skin lesions which are not normally visible to the naked eye. It is useful in diagnosing pigmentary disorders and to assess the level of pigment as in melasma, birth marks etc. It helps to differentiate benign and malignant skin lesions, serving as a diagnostic tool for certain dermatological disorders, thus avoiding the need for biopsy and helping to determine the mode of treatment.
Trichoscopy
Trichoscopy is a method of hair and scalp evaluation used for diagnosing hair and scalp disorders. The method allows visualization of the epidermal portion of hair follicles, perifollicular epidermis and hair shafts at higher magnification. It helps to diagnose the causes of hair loss, establish disease severity and assess the response to treatment.
Skin Biopsy
A skin biopsy is a procedure that removes a small sample of skin which is examined by a pathologist to render a microscopic diagnosis. Skin biopsies are performed to diagnose a number of conditions.
